Once again Americans are facing questions about the definition of a Natural Born Citizen (NBC).

This is the simple and indisputable definition: Two citizens who have a child, naturally create a new citizen. This is a Natural Born Citizen.

There is absolutely no expert either legal or historical who will argue to the contrary. They may argue to include additional citizens, but this is the core of the definition.

Two people who have a child in a location, have a citizen who is native to that land. This is a Native Born Citizen. Thus, terms like "Native American" which imply a location and not an allegiance to a country.

A person can be both Natural Born and Native Born, or in the United States we also have Naturalized Citizens who are foreign born but have legally become citizens.

Why is this an important issue?

The United States is a Democratic Republic. Republics are representative governments, government through representatives of the people. Because a democratic republic represents the people, it has some inherent vulnerabilities to foreign and opposing powers.

The most pressing vulnerability is the election to power of a representative of a foreign power or ideology. Foreign governments can use their money, power and influence to overwhelm the electoral process because individual citizens of a republic cannot compete with an entire determined nation when running for office.

Once elected, a foreign puppet would then pursue national or ideological interests to the detriment of the interests of the people of the republic. The puppet prince's declarations end the representative republic from within by undermining the trust, authority and legitimacy of the republic.

The founders of the United States were educated men who understood this threat and built several layers of protection against this existential threat.

Natural Born Citizen eligibility requirement to prevent puppet princes from running for president.

Political parties who vet and certify candidates prior to the general election.

The Electoral College to mitigate the risk that the masses choose a president who is an existential threat to the republic by adding a layer of representatives who cast the final ballot for the people.

On July 25, 1787, John Jay, who later became the Chief Justice of the United States under George Washington, wrote a letter to George Washington regarding the first draft of Article II of The Constitution. In the letter he specifically asks that only Natural Born citizens be eligible for the presidency in order to subvert foreign interests.

“..cut off all chances for ambitious foreigners, who might otherwise be intriguing for the office.”

Two days after reading the request, the requirement was adopted without discussion or debate.

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of U.S. Constitution as adopted 17 Sep 1787:

"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

How do we know what the founders meant by Natural Born Citizen?

Legal Insurrection has a summary of all the factors that encompass the legal debate. I disagree with the opinions in this article, but there is a lot of excellent information for researching this issue. The legal opinions that dominate this discussion lack historical context. Some historical context to consider...

In 1787, the biggest foe of the United States was the British Empire. However, all the kings of Europe were embroiled in wars for power and money. Any of these kings might scheme against America and take an American wife or have a prince born on American soil with the goal of establishing a puppet ruler in the newly formed American government. The resource rich Americas would then be ruled as under British rule, through a "Governor," but under the illusion of sovereignty.

Remember, these were men familiar with farms and animals. Every one of America's founders knew what our legal experts have forgotten;

A horse and a horse beget a horse.

A donkey and a donkey beget a donkey.

A horse and a donkey beget neither a horse nor a donkey, but a mule.

Having one citizen parent does not mean allegiance is necessarily to our country, our culture or our republic. Having two citizen parents does not necessitate loyalty either, but at least We The People have every chance to assimilate Natural Born Citizens into our culture. If we fail to assimilate our own core citizens into our culture, the republic will not endure in any event.

This is the most alarming aspect of the rank ignorance in America today. Legal scholars, the education system and the press are so unenlightened that this simple historical fact is deemed political incorrect an assigned the derogatory term "Birther."

Consequences

As stated above, Americans face an existential threat to our form of government and the rights it is meant to ensure. However, this is about more than America, it is about the future of human freedom and human rights.

There are only 2 political ideas in the world of men; men rule men or men rule themselves.

If men rule other men, no amount of technology or "progress" will ever lead to peace. War for conquest, power and to struggle for freedom will forever plaque our existence until we destroy ourselves.

If men are to rule themselves, we must protect ourselves from those of us who are obsessed with the desire to rule us, deceive us, mislead us, and undermine our ideas and culture. Humanity needs America as a strong representation of men ruling themselves.

Do you remember the headlines when Obama apparently declared America a Muslim country on French television?

Taken from an Islamic perspective this statement is dangerous. It sounds as if the President of the United States sees America is a Muslim nation. When you consider translations, this may presented to the masses as exactly that, American President Hussein (an exclusively Islamic name) Obama declares America to be Islamic. Thus America would be "al-Islam", or territory which may never be ceded to non-Muslims.

Semantics, right? Over-reaction, right?

Except, this is a long standing meme from not only the President, but also his staffers.
“America and yes I do consider the United States of America an Islamic country with an Islamically compliant constitution. Move On!”

The list goes on and on... The problem is that our American ears do not hear the threat in these platitudes because many of us do not understand Islamic tenets. Islam is not a religion of peace, it is a political philosophy like Communism or Imperialism that integrates a Theocracy.

Example: per http://www.historynet.com/muhammad-the-warrior-prophet.htm

According to classical Sunni doctrine, jihad can refer generically to any worthy endeavor, but in Islamic law it means primarily armed struggle for Islam against infidels and apostates. The central element of the doctrine of jihad is that the Islamic community (ummah) as a whole, under the leadership of the caliph (successor to Muhammad), has the duty to expand Islamic rule until the whole world is governed by Islamic law. Expansionist jihad is thus a collective duty of all Muslims. Land occupied by Muslims is known as the dar al-Islam, while all other territory is known as the dar al-harb, ?the land of war.? Islamic law posits the inalienability of Islamic territory. If infidels attack the dar al-Islam, it becomes the duty of all Muslims to resist and of all other Muslims to assist them. Thus jihad can be defensive as well as offensive.

More information can be found in the outstanding article What ISIS Really Wants.

However, the most striking example of this tenet, as analyzed by the New York Post from the Ayatollah Khamenei's book entitled "Palestine" or "How to Outwit America and destroy Israel" as many pundits describe 416-page book edited by Saeed Solh-Mirzai. (per http://www.bulletinleader.com/iranian-book-how-to-outwit-us-destroy-israel/14656/ )

One such principle is that a land that falls under Muslim rule, even briefly, can never again be ceded to non-Muslims.

Taken to its conclusion, this would see a huge chunk of the globe, including parts of Europe, China, Russia, India and South-East Asia ruled by an Islamic state.

Under this Islamic tenet, Israel shall never be left in peace under any circumstance. Furthermore, President Obama and his staff's declarations that America is a Muslim country adds America to this list of Islamic territory.
It has been a while since writing an entry in this blog. A quick explanation is in order.

I have been investigating and accumulating evidence related to the Obama administrations financing, arming and training of Islamic extremists in the middle east. This investigation uncovered the entire Obama Middle East Strategy.

Several interviews were with a source who was in the room during many of the highest level meetings during the end of the Bush administration through the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq under the Obama administration. These conversations revealed the Obama administration's middle east strategy, or at least the facade used when talking to American military commanders. The strategy is outright treason to anyone with a brain or anyone who has studied basic military history.

It is important to note, that top secret information was not disclosed in these interviews. However, the direction of my investigations were guided. Additional sources were used to confirm conclusions.

Due to my level of outrage, and for fear of divulging something top secret, I have decided to take a breather until a path to reveal the truth with safety appears.

The safest overview that can be given at this time: the middle east strategy is analogous to the American progressive political agenda of dividing everyone into groups, inciting discontent and instigating crisis to be exploited. Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals used to justify arming, training and financing terrorist organizations.

Maybe progressives see every problem as a nail because they only understand a hammer. No one ever accused progressives of being smart, but in this instance their ignorance is a danger to everyone.

The current middle east strategy is a danger to human freedom. Lest we forget that it took 2000 years for western philosophy to outlaw slavery, challenge subjugation to rulers and stand up to tyrants. There will not be another opportunity for human freedom to flourish on Earth, it took The New World and we are fresh out of undiscovered continents.Doo Doo Econhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05010201031724821495noreply@blogger.com74San Diego, CA 92108, USA32.7742488 -117.1411815000000232.3465113 -117.78662850000002 33.2019863 -116.49573450000001tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4418142426272641980.post-67583915321997917962014-10-16T01:12:00.003-07:002014-10-16T03:06:33.006-07:00Windows 10 is Cool

This article is being written on the technical preview of Windows 10. It is impressive and exciting to see a real improvement aimed at desktop productivity.

My motivation for reviewing Windows 10 on one of my Virtual Machine (VM) servers is to understand the future of Microsoft Windows Apps. Out of the gate, Windows 10 addresses my primary concerns. Apps tiles are now wonderfully integrated into the classic Windows Start button.

The future of Windows apps looks bright. This new apps interface is terrific and a huge improvement over Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. Windows apps now use their inherent responsive design model to resize throughout the desktop environment.

The Windows 8 style "screen corners" command have changed. That took a moment to figure out. In their place comes a more classically intuitive drop down list of commands. The "screen corner" commands will likely return on touchscreen devices, but it is clear this new version of Windows is designed for productivity and enterprise users.

The new start menu allows users to switch back to the Windows 8.1 style Start Screen interface. However, the integration of dynamic information from app tiles and the classic Start Menu is great.

I am going back to playing with this new toy. So, here is a plug for my fellow San Diego Local Order of Bloggers' Windows App. Go download it. This new directive from the Obama Administration also poisons the debate surrounding immigration reform and shows that the Administration is not serious about fixing our broken immigration system. Instead of working with Congress to address problems with our immigration system, the President is working against us. The House is working hard to improve our immigration system through a step-by-step approach but this Administration continues to politicize the issue and undermine our efforts by refusing to enforce our current laws.

The minors are handled by an array of government agencies, all with different responsibilities for their supervision, often passing through shelters funded by the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, an arm of the Department of Health and Human Services. Many are placed in removal proceedings and later deported. Others manage to benefit from provisions in immigration law that enable them to remain in the U.S. legally.

Data compiled by that agency show that 95% of what authorities refer to as UACs—for unaccompanied children—come from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, Central American republics where crime and violence have soared in recent years.

HHS reported this week that the 9,881 minors who arrived through the first quarter of the current fiscal year is slightly ahead of 2013's record pace.

June 19, 2014: Chicago, Ministering to unaccompanied immigrant children

Eight shelters in the Chicago area hold 450 immigrant children who crossed the border illegally and without a parent or guardian.

Once a month, an interfaith group visits one of the shelters to present a program with a theme like home or gratitude. The children draw pictures and sing a simple song. The adult leaders invite the children to light a candle. “You can tell that some of them really make that a time when they are praying,” said Benedictine Sr. Benita Coffey, one of the volunteers.

But the ministry is momentary. Volunteers are not to form personal connections with the children, and by their next visit, most of them will have moved on. Most likely they have been sent to live with family while they await their deportation proceedings.

Unlike influenza, classic enteroviruses tend to break out in summer-to-fall, although EV 68 has been observed to occur well into the winter season. The largest outbreak characterized by this MMWR report involved 28 children and adolescents from Pennsylvania in the fall of 2009.

Enterovirus in U.S. populations appears to manifest as temperatures fall. This coincides with cold and flu season. Colder weather pushes more people indoors, in closer proximity to one another, with less sun exposure and more confined ventilation.
October 8, 2014: The far-left desperately attempts to muddy the waters with misinformation.

Enterovirus has begun taking the lives of children in the U.S. In response, Media Matters and other left-wing outlets have begun trying to obfuscate the emerging evidence of the source of the sudden spike in enterovirus.

Media Matters, Conservatives Falsely Blame Undocumented Children For Deadly Enterovirus:

Public health experts have debunked the alleged connection between the influx of undocumented children into the United States and the spread of EV-D68. CDC spokesperson Jeanette St. Pierre told Media Matters: "Currently, there is no evidence from testing at CDC that EV-D68 infections in the U.S. are a result of unaccompanied minors moving into the country."

Notice, the misrepresentation here?

The CDC spokesperson is talking about "evidence" which means scientific proof derived by the CDC. Media Matters takes this very narrow statement and accuses conservatives of lying and blaming. The spokesperson for the CDC did not say that evidence does not exist, or that the unaccompanied minors did not infect American children, just that the CDC testing had not proven the connection.

According to the CDC, the D68 strain has now affected 691 children in 46 states and the District of Columbia with 13 of those cases just confirmed on Friday. So far, five children have died from the disease that is also connected with muscle paralysis in a handful of other cases mainly in the Denver area.

Conclusion

This post has a pinch of opinion in it, but it is basically a resource for others to keep the facts straight and do further investigation. We do face a threat and it is important to understand the health threat and be prepared. So, here is some other important information.

Journal of General Virology: Worldwide emergence of multiple clades of enterovirus 68 (NIH.gov):

In previously documented clusters, approximately 80 % of reported EV-D68 cases occurred in children. One explanation for this finding is that most reports highlighted only paediatric cases. Our EV-D68 sequences from the Gambia, South Africa and Arizona were all obtained from children. However, a recent report from the Netherlands, which focused on screening for EV-D68 in archived respiratory samples without age bias, noted a preponderance of adult cases (Meijer et al., 2012). Additionally, NYC cases presented in our report were from individuals aged 14 years or older, which is the largest EV-D68 cluster of non-paediatric origin to date. We anticipate that, with increased screening, EV-D68 may ultimately be recognized as a respiratory pathogen in all age groups.

There is currently no antiviral treatment and no vaccine to prevent EV-D68. The CDC continues to study the virus and its associated complications but does not entirely <strike>understand</strike> accept the reason for the current outbreak at this time.

Recommendations from the Rhode Island Department of Health to avoid contracting EV-D68:

Wash hands often with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds, five or six times a day (some evidence suggests that soap and water is more effective at killing enteroviruses than alcohol rubs).

Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands, and remind children to keep their hands away from their faces.

Management of asthma is especially important at this time. Be sure your child is following instructions and taking medications as prescribed by their physician.

Clean often-used surfaces frequently, including doorknobs, telephone receivers, keyboards, and toys.

Don't kiss, hug, or share cups or eating utensils with sick people.

If you or your child have a fever, stay home while sick and for at least 1 day after the fever subsides without fever-reducing medicines.

Get medical help immediately for a child with asthma who is having difficulty breathing or whose respiratory symptoms get worse or do not improve after taking their usual medications.

San Diego's Finest tea party bloggers just released a Windows 8.1 app. This app is an update to one of the first Windows 8 political apps available in the Microsoft store. The Windows 8.1 app is free (click here) as is their android app (click here). No app is currently available for apple devices, however, the website at www.theslobs.org is highly responsive and adaptive for various screen sizes.

The San Diego Local Order of Bloggers is a group that formed during the beginning of the tea party movement in response to out of control government growth. The group includes conservatives, Libertarians, Democrats, Republicans and Independents. It consists of a close nit group of writers, radio and television personalities, activists, organizers and concerned citizens who occasionally meet over beers.

The term app is short for application. It is shorthand for small, restricted programs that run without full access to the systems they are installed on. Windows 8.1 apps can add an informative "live tile" to the start screen (also referred to as the "lock screen") of the latest Windows operating system. These "live tiles" allow applications to present live information in a condensed and standardized format. Users can choose tile sizes for each program and organize them on the screen. The latest SLOBs app adds support for the largest and smallest available "live tiles" and other Windows 8.1 improvements.

Finally, the group's website and apps are designed to sharing stories as easily as possible. All include links to share stories on Twitter, Facebook and other social media. The bloggers also add the standard news reporting of the top topic at the bottom of the page/app. This helps users compare what the bloggers comments to what is being released in the news media. This feature is used by other bloggers and commentors to quickly get up to speed on the current hot topic in order to add to the discussion .

Go download the app and review the website.
September 10th, 2014 in San Diego was an eye opener.

The U.S. Department of Defense has given the San Diego Unified School District's police a 14 ton military armored vehicle. As the news became widely available, an elementary school went into lockdown. The timely set of events seemed to justify the acquisition, but it turned out to be an off-campus argument between a mother and her 19 year old son.

Fletcher Hills Elementary school parents were terrified when notified that the school had been placed in lockdown. Parents were not subsequently told that their children were available for pickup or that the situation had not been a threat to the school.

NBC San Diego:

El Cajon Police officers say the commotion started Wednesday when Christopher Wilson, 19, was walking down the street and got into a confrontation with a homeowner, about a block away from Fletcher Hills Elementary.

...

The district said the rescue vehicle is one of the ways it is responding to the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, and preparing itself for potential disasters in the future.

We have since been told that the homeowner in question was Mr. Wilson's mother. She had thrown him out of the house and then called the police. Wilson's mother told NBC 7 that her son also has a restraining order against him by his father. We did not find any reports of Wilson's mother accusing him of brandishing a weapon.

Several reports specified that Wilson had removed a hatchet or other wedged object from a bag and then walked past the school. It is unclear who witnessed him remove the object from the bag.

UT San Diego:

Later, a campus supervisor told police the suspect walked past the school, (El Cajon police Lt. Rob) Ransweiler said. The supervisor recognized the suspect and followed him to the front yard of his Chatham Street home near North Westwind Drive, just east of the campus.

Officers arrived and tried to convince the man to come outside. They also called his mother, who made similar pleas (via bull horn), but he wasn't in the home, Ransweiler said. A hatchet wasn't located either.

Given the current information, Wilson may have grabbed a cell phone from a backpack and simply left. However, the news media immediately painted him as a mad-man who "forced a school into lockdown." News reporting sensationalism isn't a surprise, but the timing is particularly convenient.

...back to our new school tank...

The Mine Resistant Armored Vehicle (MRAP) was acquired via the 1033 program. The program allows the federal government to provide surplus military equipment to law enforcement. San Diego Unified paid just under $5,000 shipping cost for the vehicle. The cost to remove weapons from the vehicle was not reported. The vehicle's capability of rearmament was not revealed, but we suspect all the weapon mounts are intact and available.

If memory serves, our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan could not get these MRAP for several years. Now, SDUSD says the vehicle is needed to truck around donated medical supplies? This acquisition is so unjustified that even instilling fear for "the children" doesn't resonate.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau issued a misinformed statement about the dangers of bitcoin other cryptocurrencies. The advisory was intended to instill fear and uncertainty about the new form of currency. Some of the inane statements include (italics ours):

Exchange rates are volatile and costs unclear (stock market and broker fees? Exchanges typically charge a flat rate 0.2% fee or less, which is as clear as it gets.)

Hackers and scammers pose serious security threats: Virtual currencies are targets for highly sophisticated hackers and scammers. Individuals, digital wallet providers, and exchanges are all at risk. (Bitcoin has already been tested and found secure. That is why individual companies like GOX that had not properly implemented bitcoin are touted instead of bitcoin as a technology being presented as flawed or insecure. Bitcoin can't be hacked by the US government, thus the attacks via advisories. Small hackers don't pose any risk. )

Companies may not offer help or refunds for lost or stolen funds (How is this specific to cryptocurrency? Isn't this why some people shop at Nordstrom )

The press release did help destabilize the bitcoin market and millions of people lost money. It was enough to inspire a mocking complaint with the CFPB about the CFPB. The complaint is tongue-in-cheek, but also attempts to make some basic points.

Describe what happened so we can understand the issue:

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau released a press release that adversely affected millions of individuals and businesses by erroneously implying that cryptocurrencies are more risky than traditional currencies and credit cards. Thousands of volunteers have worked in the open source development community to bring this innovative and promising new technology to the public. At the macro level, cryptocurrencies will reduce or eliminate credit card fraud, reduce bank fees, lower small business costs and untie money from government corruption and bad monetary policy. At an individual level, exposing personal identity information and credit details to strangers over the internet, to be viewed, copied, stolen and abused is an unnecessary risk associated with all credit card transactions and is directly addressed by cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

Stifling this technology through government power will hinder the economy and needlessly contribute to the harm done to millions through identity theft and credit card fraud annually.

It is apparent that the government is putting power above the public interest and is preying upon the uninformed. This sort of misinformation campaign is used to instill FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt) in competitors, innovative ideas, improved products and superior technologies. What do you think would be a fair resolution to your issue?:

The CFPB can resolve this issue by releasing a press release explaining cryptocurrencies are more safe than credit cards and promise to end billions in credit card fraud annually. With
cryptocurrency, as with cash, consumers do not expose their the personal identity information, credit card number or PIN. This information is not transferred, processed, and stored and thus can't be stolen and abused by third parties. Credit card fraud, where not only personal identity of the owner is stolen, but also the credit card information is stolen with it, is rampant when purchasing goods and services. This incurs a financial barrier of compliance costs and liabilities on small business related to processing and storing credit card information.

Large retailers are increasingly victims of data security breaches. Target had more than 1 million customer records stolen, including credit card information. Smaller retailers are less able to
prevent data security breaches. A 2013 ITRC survey shows that 15.6% of all data breaches expose credit card information. http://www.idtheftcenter.org/ITRC-Surveys-Studies/2013-data-breaches.html

Futher, the credit card system was designed in the 1960's and was never intended for use on the internet. The Internet is a public network where the transmitted data is easily visible to unknown third parties. Recent revelations that SSL (the security layer used on websites) was compromised by spy agencies adds another level of concern with regard to the use of credit cards over the internet.

Lastly, if someone somehow gains access to a cryptocurrency wallet, it is strongly password encrypted, unlike a credit cards or cash.

Background

Bitcoin is a technology that allows for trade over the internet without the possibility of credit card fraud and without bank fees. Where credit cards were created for the pre-internet world and require account information to be traded, bitcoin is like cash. You pay someone Bitcoin, not your bitcoin account information. This is why bitcoin is a cryptocurrency.

This provides a lot of public good. People can buy from anywhere in the world without bank imposed fees or the worry that an unknown foreign company will steal their credit card information. Bitcoin users are also immune to things like bank account freezes or non-sufficient fund charges. Each bitcoin user has their own independent encrypted wallet. When combined with a long, strong pass-phrase (passwords are too short for effective security), bitcoin in a users wallet are more secure than money held in a bank account.

The government frowns upon bitcoin. Many governments oppose it, but not because bitcoin is evil. Governments use various rationalizations that boil down to the governments greed for power to control money. Bitcoin is money backed by mathematics, not governments.

Bitcoin is created in limited quantities, so it cannot be printed and artificially inflated. There is a fixed total amount of Bitcoin. Bitcoin must be "mined" which means computer algorithms reward people for cracking codes. The codes become harder the more computing power is thrown at bitcoin, so no one can make all the Bitcoin. There is also an element of randomness to ensure that little guys have a chance.

When laws are used against the public good, or to empower the powerful, we nerds call this "lawful evil". Slavery, fascism, communism are all examples of the law being used to enrich some at the expense of others. All governments are prone to the temptations of "lawful evil" because government is the concentration of power. Government can be looked at as the monopoly of the use of force. Which is why George Washington explained, "Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."

The War on Bitcoin

The government really has no bigger role in the technology of bitcoin than it would in some foreign currency. As a matter of fact, we sometimes forget that the power to "regulate" was intended to promote trade by making it "more regular." Bitcoin is self-regulating, it can't be stolen, hacked, monopolized or counterfeited. It is just a new currency of trade designed for the internet. Not only is there no need for government regulation of bitcoin, intervention doesn't serve the public good.

Regardless, the most powerful government in the world, The U.S. Government, has crafted a Machiavellian strategy to stop bitcoin.

Some of the earliest adopters of bitcoin were people trading drugs and other illegal items on a website called Silk Road, so the U.S. Government shut down the website. They seized 29,656 Bitcoin from the accounts users stored on the Silk Road servers (not held in their personal encrypted wallets). In the beginning, Bitcoin were only worth a few dollars, so this really wasn't much money. The operator of the site accumulated 144,000 Bitcoin through fees. These coins were also seized but were held in a secure wallet that the government could not access. The U.S. Marshals took the 29,656 bitcoin from the website's servers and the FBI took the 144,000 Bitcoin wallet from the proprietor, Ross Ulbricht aka “Dread Pirate Roberts".

We are not condoning illegal activity, but Bitcoin wasn't the problem with silk road. The U.S. Dollar is the actual currency of the drug trade and illegal activity. But, the U.S. government learned that Bitcoin was a threat to their income stream because they couldn't just seize cash and bank accounts. Instead they held an encrypted wallet they couldn't crack.

Civil Asset Forfeiture Law allows government agencies that seizes assets to then charge the assets with a crime and sell or use those assets themselves. Most Civil Asset Forfeitures are not associated with a criminal case. As a matter of fact, if you carry $10,000 in cash, it must be declared or it can just be seized. Unlike normal due process, you must then prove that the money is yours and how you earned it. There is no presumption of innocence.

"Cato Institute, a libertarian think-tank, found that 80% of people whose property was seized by the federal government were never charged with a crime. Forfeiture proceedings are brought not against people, but against property that law enforcement need only allege is connected to criminal activity."

When the government seized Bitcoin from Silk Road, some of the coins were being traded for legitimate goods, but it would be impossible for someone to fight on behalf of their Bitcoin as the Bitcoin would themselves be charged with money laundering due to the Silk Road system through Civil Asset Forfeiture.

However, because Bitcoin is now seen as a threat to the revenue stream of the government a strategy appears to have been developed to suppress the revolutionary technology. The U.S. Government doesn't see Bitcoin as a threat to the dollar because the price of bitcoin would have to be above $4,600 to allow $1 trillion in transactions value to take place globally. At $500-600, bitcoin is just a nuisance for law enforcement asset seizures. So, the anti-bitcoin strategy appears to be aimed at minimizing this strategy by suppressing the price of bitcoin.

With this price suppression in mind, the first step is to declare the new currency a "capital or non-capital asset" or property through IRS Notice 2014-21. Without this declaration, bitcoin would be reported as cash, and companies using bitcoin could trade dollars and Bitcoin and report them on the same part of the balance sheets to investors. By the IRS declaring it a capital asset, bitcoin focused companies will show weaker cash and current ratios than non-bitcoin companies.

Bitcoin companies would have to be big for cash ratios to matter, but Bitcoin seized by law enforcement also allows for a broader attack on the new cryptocurrency. Every company holding Bitcoin will show less assets if the price falls. This could affect their ability to get loans or new investors. So, today June 27th, 2014 is the first run at dumping thousands of bitcoin on the market at the end of a reporting period. The U.S. Marshals timed their 29,656 bitcoin auction to coincide with the end of the 2nd quarter for reporting purposes.

The auction will sell Bitcoin in blocks of 3,000 and requires a $200,000 deposit. This will keep small investors out of the auction and ensure that companies with reporting requirements, public or private, buy the coins. These companies will then have to sell a portion of the coins within the next three days, June 30th, or show a hit to their cash balances.

The Bitcoin sold at discount at auction will then in-turn drive down the market price due to the immediate sales. This reduces the capital assets of every other company with Bitcoin that reports on June 30th as the end of the second fiscal quarter. (Most corporations use year end as their fiscal year end.)

This hit to bitcoin related companies will discourage additional investment, make financing more difficult and allow for the lapdog media to push a narrative headline that bitcoin is failing.

If this strategy works, the remaining 144,000 FBI seized Bitcoin will follow the same strategy. They would be auctioned in blocks just before the end of the next several fiscal quarters.

(The government eventually was given access to the seized Bitcoin after convincing the Silk Road proprietor that they were going to crash the price and that he needed to cash out.)

A New Hope

There is one hitch in this strategy. Bitcoin is not the only cryptocurrency. The second leading currency is called Litecoin. It is newer than bitcoin, transactions are faster, there are more coins, the coins are still only around $10 and the coins are more easily mined by small players due to a newer algorithm called "scrypt." Many exchanges allow for Bitcoin to be directly traded for Litecoin, so companies with Bitcoin can move to Litecoin instead of suffering losses to their balance sheets during the Auctions/dumps.

Due to this flaw in the anti-bitcoin strategy, government agents have had to contend with the #MoveToLiteCoin movement. They primarily must resort to insults and personal attacks otherwise known as FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) on proponents of #MoveToLiteCoin to discourage others from joining the movement. In the end, they don't have enough seized LiteCoin to suppress the market.

Shortly after our first report on #MoveToLiteCoin, someone traded 1600 Bitcoin for Litecoin. Last night nearly 100,000 of these were dumped on the market with almost no effect. If this was the government's attempt at stopping Litecoin in order to further their anti-bitcoin strategy, the U.S. Government can't stop Bitcoin.

We expect to see Bitcoin prices to fall through June 30th and Litecoin prices to rise. After the U.S. Marshals Bitcoin dump is over the media will run press release driven stories on "Bitcoin's crash." Review both Bitcoin and Litecoin prices to prove that Bitcoin is just too flexible to stop due to its alternative cryptocurrency partners. Even if Bitcoin prices fall, watch as Bitcoin quickly rebounds as investors return from their #MoveToLiteCoin.

The Bitcoin community is responding to the auction of seized Silk Road coins by moving money into LiteCoin and other alternative coins. The government agencies selling seized coins are seen to be "dumping" them on the market in an effort to suppress the internet currency and it is has sparked outrage. Instead of allowing the government agencies to profit, the community is taking action by moving money via exchanges around the world. The money is being put into so-called "alt coins", led by the second largest cryptocurrency, LiteCoin.

Thus far the Bitcoin fell from $648.89 to $560, with a rebound to $589 as of posting of this article. If this campaign takes hold you might expect further reductions in price, accompanied by increases in LiteCoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Social media hubs like twitter and reddit, alongside bitcoin community forums and exchange chat areas are being used to organize the movement. Hashtags include:
Background

U.S. Civil Asset forfeiture law allows departments that seize cash and other assets to use it for various expenses. This is incentive for the law enforcement agencies to sell assets or spend seized cash, but without the rigor of traditional due process. For instance, if you are a U.S. citizen carrying $10,000 in cash, it must be declared or it is subject to seizure. If seized, you must prove that it is yours and how you earned it. The legal system may not be impartial in the process because it can use the cash.

"80% of people whose property was seized by the federal government were never charged with a crime. Forfeiture proceedings are brought not against people, but against property that law enforcement need only allege is connected to criminal activity. "

Silk Road bitcoins were seized by the U.S. Marshals Service from servers and 29,656 ($17,793,600) are to be auctioned. These coins are to be sold on June 27th over a 12-hour period to anyone willing to put up $200,000 as a deposit. Additionally, 144,341 ($86,604,600) bitcoins were seized from "Dread Pirate Roberts" or Ross William Ulbricht, the operator of Silk Road. Until recently, these coins were not available for law enforcement to sell on the market because they were unable to crack the encrypted password protection. Bitcoin proponents have pointed to this as proof that bitcoin is more secure than assets held in banks. Mr. Ulbricht apparently gave up this password as the coins have recently been moved into a new wallet.

All bitcoin transactions are tracked automatically via the blockchain, so we can view the two accounts which held the Silk Road seized coins. DPR Seized Coins were moved to DPR Seized Coins 2 on July 12, 2014 in an apparent "shot over the bow" of the bitcoin community by the U.S. Government. Unfortunately the bureaucrats failed to realized that this warning shot might have consequences.

Money for fleets of shiny new government vehicles, huge salary bonuses and bloated expense accounts may now evaporate when the government attempts to cash in. Undoubtedly, some government social media workers will then begin pushing a narrative that bitcoin is "unstable" as they did after someone sold down the price of bitcoin to $102, likely due to a trading glitch. However, the price rebounded in minutes after that incident, which is not widely reported. The #MoveToLiteCoin campaign intends for the price of bitcoin to resume it's epic rise when the alt coin money returns.

Some of the coins being used as repositories of crypto-wealth include: Litecoin, NameCoin, DogeCoin
The US Federal Exchange Commission (FEC) has decided that political campaigns and political action committees (PAC) may now accept and invest in bitcoin. The cyrpto currency may be accepted as a in-kind donation per this draft advisory document.
The Hill had previously reported a delay in the decision on 4/23/2014,

The commission delayed a formal vote on a petition to be able to accept up to $100 worth of the money, but commissioners seemed optimistic that they could draft a compromise to allow a limited amount of contributions in the virtual currency.

The commission had split when a conservative group, Conservative Action Fund PAC, proposed a similar proposal in November. In April, Make Your Laws PAC sought to accept bitcoins as contributions, as well as purchase, sell and trade them.

Make Your Laws PAC describes itself as non-partisan and registered in September 2012. MYL introduces its role as a technology company in politics:

Make Your Laws makes this intuitive process of trust even easier through some clever use of technology. Of course, users can always proxy to people they know and trust personally — their friends, family, and other influential figures in their lives. But often, users will want to know what experts and organizations are more dedicated to their issues.

First, based on how an individual responds to examples of controversial proposals, we can recommend to the user a number of public proxies who share their views and can be trusted to better track the issues on a given topic.

Second, as part of the discussion process, users will find that they end up agreeing or disagreeing with people that they might not have otherwise had contact with — people who, through the organic process of social interaction, become influential through their words. Make Your Laws makes it easy to add these people to one's list of advisors.

Finally, when there are differences of opinions between proxies, Make Your Laws can ask the user questions that will help to determine what advisors might better serve their needs, and better represent their views overall.

The draft advisory states that bitcoins may be accepted, purchased on exchanges and held as investments, but seems to state that employees cannot be paid in bitcoins and the currency must be converted to fiat before making purchases due to reporting requirements:

MYL proposes to accept bitcoins only through an online form on which each bitcoin contributor, regardless of the proposed contribution amount, will have to provide his or her name, physical address, occupation, and
employer.
...
MYL proposes to accept only $100 worth of bitcoin per contributor per election (as identified using the practices just described)
...
The Commission concludes that the requestor may accept bitcoin contributions as proposed in its Advisory Opinion Request and supplemental filings subject to valuation and reporting procedures similar to those that the Commission has previously recognized in analogous circumstances. The Commission further concludes that the requestor may purchase bitcoins with funds from its campaign depository for investment purposes but may not make disbursements using those purchased bitcoins

Bank of America had to suspend its stock buyback program and cancel planned dividend payments due to a "math error." The error reduces the amount of high quality capital owned by the bank by about $4 billion. It does not directly affect bank accounts. However, the stock has pulled down the price of financial stocks across the board as investors and consumers worry about a banking system that can't keep count of money.

If you are worried about your bank accounts, there is a new open source solution to banking called Bitcoin. It includes a public ledger called the blockchain. Thousands of dedicated users run independent processing of the transactions, and no centralized errors like this can occur. Each transaction is independently and repeatedly "confirmed."

The money called bitcoin is designed for modern life on the internet and is encrypted with SHA256 encryption. This encryption is so powerful, some say it would take all the power of all the suns in the galaxy and billions of years to crack.

Some benefits of bitcoin vs tribal fiat money include:

Bankers and Governments hate it, as it takes away their control of money.

You do not give up account information to pay for things, eliminating credit card fraud.

There is essentially no transaction fee, or you can choose to pay a small fee to speed up your transaction. This eliminates bank fees like wire transfer fees.

There are no "bank" fees to hold bitcion.

You can hold your own bitcoins in an encrypted wallet, eliminating the need for banks.

Bitcoins are transferred like an email. You send and forget over a secure network protocol.

Eliminates currency exchange costs or risk. Essentially, you could go on a world vacation and never have to worry about the local currency.

There is no limit to the amount you can hold. Unlike cash which must be declared in amounts over $10,000 in the USA.

It was designed for the internet age and doesn't require "credit card protection" because it is already secured by powerful encryption.

You can send the money anywhere in the world, to anyone, anytime you like for free.

Unlike fiat "bills" a bitcoin can be subdivided endlessly below the decimal point.

etc...

Some drawbacks of bitcoin:

Bankers and Governments hate it, as it takes away their control of money.

It is not available at every store for every transaction yet. (see Gyft.com to use it at major retailers.)

Access to bitcoin is currently restricted. Getting ahold of bitcoins is relatively difficult. (See Coinbase.com and localbitcoins.com)

The currency has value based on exchanges which are heavily infiltrated by governments and institutions determined to stop it or manipulate it. Bitcoin is the battleground of financial freedom.

There is a limited quantity. When people die, or lose their passphrase(*), the bitcoins in their encrypted wallet could be lost, diminishing the supply.

The media is biased against it. You will probably be demonized at some point for not using "dollars" or whichever tribal fiat currency you currently use.

Technical weaknesses. Because everything created by man is flawed, bitcoin has been battle tested by real life users and hackers. It has come out on top, but someday it may need to be updated, like all software.

* Passphrases: you should no longer use passwords. Use entire sentences or phrases with punctuation and numbers. Passwords, especially under 9 characters, are not secure. The formula for passphrase difficulty is (number of possible characters)^(number of characters used in password). For example, a four digit pin number has only 10^4 difficulty or 10,000 combinations.Doo Doo Econhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05010201031724821495noreply@blogger.com10San Diego, CA, USA32.7154595 -117.161480131.861500500000002 -118.4523736 33.569418500000005 -115.87058660000001tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4418142426272641980.post-10534125199055913072014-02-26T13:13:00.000-08:002014-02-26T13:13:01.508-08:00Bitcoin Up 37.7% in Two Days

You may have seen some news reporting a "crisis in bitcoin", but that is very far from the truth.

At its lowest point, bitcoin was worth $430 (02/24/2014 @ 11:30 PM PST). One dollar was worth 1/430th of a bitcoin (.00232557 BTC). At the time of writing this post, 12:25 AM PST 02/26/2014, the dollar had fallen to 1/592nd of a bitcoin (.001689189 BTC). Bitcoin gained $162 or 37.7 percent.

Why Did The Price of Bitcoin Fall?

The price of bitcoin was driven down due to problems at one of many exchanges. Exchanges are like stock markets where you can exchange bitcoins for other coins or fiat money like dollars. ObamaCare consultants might have been used on this Japanese based exchange called GOX (Magic the Gathering Online Exchange). The exchange either overpaid people due to bad programming, was bought off by a government entity or stole peoples bitcoins. Whatever the case, the people responsible are now in hiding. There is no "problem" with bitcoin as a technology or as a investment.

Another exchange BTC-e released this statement in regard to the GOX problem.

We confirm the Bitcoin system operation and its exciting prospects, and MtGox bankruptcy has not been caused by any underlying technical problems of Bitcoin. Bitcoin international peer-to-peer network and cryptocurrency are independent of actions of a single market participant. Bitcoin protocol continues to function exactly as it should. The cryptocurrency maintains its stability and the network will continue to develop and exist as long as required by its users.

People who used the problem exchange were put at risk and sold their coins cheap to "get into a court recognized currency" in order to file suit. This strategy came out of nowhere and was promoted as "legal advice." For all I know, it was a scheme to incite panic selling. Bitcoin is obviously an asset and theft of valuables is not delineated specifically by various courts to my knowledge. Maybe you know better.

How Did Bitcoin Recover So Quickly?

During the panic sell, other investors, who were not at risk, purchased bitcoins ... and ... hopefully.... you acquired some at the discount. If you put $100 into bitcoin at that time, that investment would now be worth $137.67 minus about .2% in fees. Of course this does not represent a full return to value, but it a base of recovery.

By the time you read this, the price of bitcoin will probably over $600. So, if you are wondering if you missed the big opportunity, let me comfort you with some timely advice....

When to Buy Bitcoin

We released an entire post regarding this subject, but to summarize. buy on market dips:

over 800, normal market price

under 800, consider buying

under 700, strongly consider buying

under 600, if you don't buy, there had better be a good reason

under 500, if it is at all possible, buy!

The current situation represents a major opportunity for new users to get into bitcoin

Why Might Bitcoin Continue to Gain Value?

Good question. There are many reasons people believe in bitcoin.

Political Risk Associated with Fiat Currency

The US government represents the world's reserve currency. Due to an agreement known as Bretton-Woods, this has been the case since 1944. At the time, the US dollar was tied to gold, so other currencies tied to the dollar via Bretton-Woods were also considered fractional reserve notes based on gold. In 1971, the United States untied from gold and became a fiat currency. It effectively dragged the worlds currencies with it.

Since that time, the dollar's reserve currency status has been based on faith in the American government and people. Recent events have concentrated power in the US's executive branch of government, which essentially changes that system.

The tea party, occupy wall street and other movements have arisen due to a lack of faith in America's new political system. Concentrated power increases the likelihood of bad decisions being made and carried out. For instance, ObamaCare was sold as if it would save American $1 trillion over 10 years, but recent CBO estimates reveal a cost of $2 trillion over that same period.

Bad decisions, like ObamaCare will continue to be made because neither Congress nor the Supreme Court have the power to stop them. Concentrated power's effective replacement of Separation of Powers in the American government is a fundamental economic threat to the world economy. This is a fiscal and political policy crisis.

The alternatives are precious metals, which can be confiscated, and bitcoin which is easily transported and encrypted.

The Federal Reserve (Fed) Lack of QE Exit Strategy

Monetary policy has been a stalwart of America's economic stability. Recently the Fed as reduced interest rates to zero in an attempt to spur the economy. Specifically, they hope a "wealth effect" will spur people into feeling "richer" because stock and home prices are artificially inflated through the massive printing of money known as Quantitative Easing (QE). The Fed is printing around $75 billion per month.

The problem with this approach is that there is no known exit strategy. Every time the Fed moves to increase interest rates, the stock market collapses and home sales plummet. Confidence in this system is extremely low.

Step back and look at the combined monetary policy crisis, the fiscal policy crisis and the political crisis in America. Europe, China, Russia and South America are conceptual alternatives, but they do not inspire the confidence of the U.S. when it is governed faithfully according to the U.S. Constitution.

Technological Superiority

Bitcoin is technically better. It is fundamentally more secure. It incorporates the Blockchain, which is like an accounting system. There is no credit card account information to be stolen when bitcoin is used. It is expandable and can be updated. It is easy and inexpensive to buy good and services across national boundaries without converting currencies... (no currency risk). The "wire transfer" fees or transaction fees are extremely small or free. Bitcoin transfers in minutes instead of days like bank money transfers.

There are simply too many advantages to list. It is the next evolution of money.

Consider Major retailers. Walmart would save billions in currency exchange fees, wire transfer fees, accounting costs and possible fraud loss by switching to bitcoin. Target would not have been liable for all the stolen credit card information in 2013.

Decentralization of Money

Many of us believe money is too important to be left in the hands of government. Government is generally incompetent due to competing goals. Trusting in government seldom proves to be wise and for the first time we have an real alternative.

Math vs Military

The US Dollar, and fiat currency generally, is backed by military and police power. Bitcoin is backed by math, computer geeks and some very bad men (like Chuck Norris). America's military is strong, but math is stronger. Recent events surrounding GOX might be an opportunity to judge which justice is more effective.

Other reasons

Everyone has their own ultimate reason to move to a secure, internet-compatible currency. This is a little like listing why people use email instead of snail mail.. Instead of trying to list everything, lets leave this area open and add to it based on comments. Let us know your reason below.

Alternative Coins (Alt Coins)

The big question is whether bitcoin is the ultimate winner in the arena of crypto currencies. LiteCoin, DogeCoin, UltraCoin, Vertcoin, NameCoin, or another may someday prove to be even better than bitcoin.

These coins can be quickly converted between bitcoin. So, this may lead to a situation like the precious metals market. Bitcoin may be a store of wealth, while another coin might be the day-to-day alternative. They will coexist just as they do currently on multiple exchanges.

Lets keep this short. Here are the Ten Commandments to make money trading in Bitcoin. Detailed explanations follow where needed.

Do not follow trollbox advice

Buy low, sell high OR sell high, buy back low

Know your break even number

Never let a Whale (big trader) buy cheaper than you, stack up on their position if necessary.

Look up and down the orders list and find the big orders

Cut loses or cost average when you make a bad trade, but let profits run

Be patient and do not be mastered by market sentiment

Buy when the market is selling, sell when the market is buying

Read the chart first

Do not trade to fiat

Where do you trade Bitcoin? You trade on one of the Bitcoin exchanges, but start small and work your way up to larger trades. Here are the "how to" details...

1. Do not follow trollbox advice

A trollbox is a little chat window commonly implemented by Bitcoin exchanges. It is full of people trying to manipulate new users into bad trades. Some people use it to discuss actual issues about the market, but you should never blindly follow advice given in the trollbox, and never click a short url link.

Instead, take the time to read the news or google the trollbox information that catches your eye.

2. Buy low, sell high OR Sell high, buy back low

There is no difference between buying low then selling high and selling high and then buying back low. You should do what puts you in a position for a follow up trade. For example, you can BL-SH and consider that the beginning of a SH-BL.

3. Know your break even number

You should use excel or something to track break even numbers. Transaction costs are greater than they appear, .2% is actually 0.4004% for a full trade. I wont bore you with the math...

**update* I should bore you with the math**
Break even is [Buy Price] * [trade fee on buy] * [trade fee on sale]

Long (buy low then sell higher): [Price] * [1 + fee] * [1 + fee] i.e. 1 * 1.002 *1.002 = 1.004004
Short (sell high then buy back lower): [Price] * [1 - fee] * [1 - fee] i.e. 1 * 0.998 * 0.998 = 0.996004

Also, consider that some big traders get "VIP" transaction fees, normally about .15% or .05% lower than everyone else. this translates to more than .1% lower selling prices on each trade.

4. Never let a Whale (big trader) buy cheaper than you, stack up on their position if necessary

This is a tough one. If you allow a whale to buy 1,000,000 coins at .00001 less than your trade they will be able to sell at a profit lower than you. This might lock you out of completing your trade and leave you at a loss or completely out of the market.

Big players will sometimes place huge buy and sell orders simultaneously with less than .2% price difference. Small traders that place orders in between become trapped after one leg of their trade. You are forced to buy or sell from the whale or simply wait indefinitely to complete trades.

The counter tactic is to place a buy order on top of the whale. If 1000 coins are traded at a price, the goal is to reduce the amount of coins purchased by the whale and stop the whale from making both legs of their trade. Wait until they pull the trap and then sell your coins.

This is an important tactic because governments, banks and other players who are protecting establishment power use their massive resources to undermine crypto currencies. As a trader, you need to be prepared to fight these powers. You are the underdog, so be prepared to fight all who rob and plunder.

5. Look up and down the order list and find the big orders

It is very informative. You can learn what the big players are preparing to do in the market.

6. Cut loses or cost average when you make a bad trade, but let profits run

This is one that is pretty hard to follow. It seems easier to buy and then set a reasonable sell price or vice versa. However, this is where big profit can be found if you are patient, precise, confident and follow the other commandments.

7. Be patient and do not be mastered by market sentiment

Do not fall prey to the whims of the moment. Panic buying and panic selling are a traders worst enemies. Often, it is even harder to wait for the top or bottom of the market. It is better to wait longer, a lot longer than your emotions lead you, unless you have a specific reason.

Some traders add that you should not trade during low volume because the market is easier to manipulate.Sometimes a small, well timed order can fool the automated trading programs (bots) into buying and selling at the wrong time. This is done by manipulating technical indicators across threshold values.

8. Buy when the market is selling, sell when the market is buying

Position yourself so that panic traders are selling to you cheap and buying from you at a premium.

9. Read the chart first

Compare other exchanges (BTC-E,Huobi, Bitstamp,BTC-e,Crypto-trade, etc), KDJ indicators (or other indicators) and multiple timeframes while developing trading strategy. Review this chart to understand what this stuff means.

10. Do not trade to fiat

Use alternative coins during downturns as safe harbor and to trade for more Bitcoins. Many alternative coins lag, lead or are not very reliant on the price of Bitcoin. Learning these alternative markets turns crashes into buying opportunities.

*update* expanded per comments request.

While charts show that alt coins like Litecoin (LTC) follow the price trends generally of Bitcoin (BTC), there is often a lag in the price change or at times they lead the price change. The scale of the change can also be very different. This affects ratios which are the basis of a many alt coin markets. (i.e. LTC/BTC)

Some of this is due to the fact that there are always new alt coins coming to market. Sentiment players try to jump on down turns in bitcoin to find people willing to trade bitcoin for the latest shiny coin. At other times, an alt coin may crash and money might rush into a safer alt coin or back into bitcoin. There are markets for many alt coins based purely upon Bitcoin and Litecoin. You may find a XYZ/BTC or XYZ/LTC on exchanges (where XYZ is a generic alt coin symbol).

Another reason that trading to alt coins is preferable to trading to fiat is to avoid missing large market upswings. Alt coins may lag or have a different scope, but when prices jump up, you aren't left behind.

Recently Overstock, Tiger Direct and many other online retailers have begun accepting the secure internet money known as Bitcoin (BTC or #). Bitcoin cannot be hacked like credit cards because you pay directly with encrypted money instead of entrusting others with credit card account information. It is more like using cash instead of a credit card which limits your vulnerability.

Merchants love Bitcoin for many reasons. There are less transaction fees involved with Bitcoin and unlike insecure credit cards, Bitcoin was designed for use on the internet. That means retailers like Walmart can use Bitcoin securely to purchase goods from anywhere in the world without wire fees and without exchange rate risk.

So, when should you purchase Bitcoin?

The answer is a couple days after a major retailer begins accepting purchases via Bitcoin.

The reason for this is controversial, but allow me to explain. When a merchant accepts BTC for the first time, they have to get those sales into their accounting system as dollars, so they sell their new coins. Eventually, the merchant will stop selling all their coins as they work out how to use the new currency to their own advantage in international purchases. In the short term, however, all the purchases against a new retail merchant are effectively a massive dump of coins on the BTC exchanges (aka stock market).

This massive dump of BTC onto the exchange is not met immediately with new demand for BTC because the merchants customers probably do not know how or where to buy BTC. It takes a few days for their accounts to be set up and the US Government and China make it as hard as possible to buy Bitcoin. (They have to protect their printing press money power against a currency backed by math and nerds and they are scared.)

In the next few days or maybe weeks new users begin to buy Bitcoins to shop securely online at the new merchant and the price rises. Here is the market movement as TigerDirect began accepting Bitcoin. Tiger Direct has a lot of users who own Bitcoin because they sell Advanced Micro Device (AMD) based computer hardware used to "mine" Bitcoins.

Other retailers have less BTC wealthy users, and speculation sometimes drives the price up, for instance Google China might sell ads in Bitcoin, but that would not drive large purchases via Bitcoin. Amazon is another example of a merchant who would temporarily drive BTC prices down after adoption. Walmart would be a difficult call.

Overstock.com reportedly had $130,000 in Bitcoin sales on their first day accepting the currency. So, you can imagine that even a fraction of that volume would push down Bitcoin prices as coin holders are replaced with a massive coin seller.

To wrap up, anytime Bitcoin dips below $800 per coin, it is a bargain. Bank of America released a report estimating the value of a Bitcoin at $1300. These bargains can be found immediately after a large adoption by a merchant who appeals to online consumers. Go get your account ready and jump in on the next big dip. Maybe $750 will buy you $1300 worth of "stuff" and that is a good deal!Doo Doo Econhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05010201031724821495noreply@blogger.com38San Diego, CA, USA32.7153292 -117.1572550999999931.8613702 -118.44814859999998 33.5692882 -115.86636159999999tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4418142426272641980.post-76969635694827434672013-12-09T10:43:00.002-08:002013-12-22T19:05:02.375-08:00Get Bit, The Bitcoin Market

There is a debate in the financial world as to the value of digital (or crypto) currencies. Bank of America recently stated they "could become a major means of payment for e-commerce and may emerge as a serious competitor to traditional money-transfer providers" and assigned a fair value of $1300 per bitcoin. On the other side, critics argue, "It’s a complete joke. Even a crappy currency has government taxing ability behind it, or some sort of a standing army or something like that." My opinion is that crypto currencies are a revolutionary idea that provides an alternative to fiat currencies (dollars) and precious metals.

The two major online currencies are Bitcoin and LiteCoin. Neither are backed by governments, but instead are generated by deciphering encrypted keys. Each "coin block" found makes the next more difficult to find through increasingly difficult encryption. The code that generates this currency is completely open source which ensures there are no back doors or cheating. Solving these encrypted codes is known as "mining." The coins mined are then traded for goods and services or other currencies. The coins have value for the same reason the US dollar or other currencies have value. People assign them value.

What are the mayor differences between fiat currencies like dollars and crypto currencies?

There are no governments involved to inflate and manipulate the value of crytpo currencies.

Most crypto currencies have an absolute limit in quantity, so they can't be printed.

There is an equal opportunity to find or "mine" for crypto currencies with free software.

Very few transaction fees, no wire fees and quick transactions.

The exchange of coins is a completely free market with major players (like coinbase) helping users move money between fiat currencies and crypto currencies.

You can save your crypto currencies in a file with backups and encryption known as a "wallet" instead of a bank.

Bitcoin Exchange

The value of crypto currencies is mostly determined on exchanges, like other currency exchanges. There are dozens of crypto currencies, some are created as college projects and others by enthusiasts. Most can be exchanged for bitcoins, the dominant player. For instance, the video game Second Life uses Lindon Dollars to transact within the game. An exchange called Virwox allows the purchase of Lindon Dollars and the exchange between bitcoins and Lindons. This is one of the more expensive ways to purchase Bitcoin due to the number of transaction fees.

Where as most crypto currencies have little value, Bitcoin is essentially the gold of cryptos. Litecoin is the silver of crypto currency. You can see this relationship in the markets, with Litecoin slightly above the value of silver and Bitcoin slightly below the value of gold. It is a safe bet that many people are diversifying away from precious metals into cryptos due to recent market manipulation by central banks.

The exchanges are mostly completely free markets with little or no regulation or manipulation by governments. As such people have begun to speculate in the markets as an alternative to stocks or slow moving precious metals. The result is an explosion of wealth creation for both bitcoins and litecoins.

If you read candlestick charts and indicators, there may be a place for you in the exchanges. If you don't, you can "mine" for crypto currencies like a old-timey gold prospector. You could also buy crytpo currencies while they are cheap as Christmas presents for family members who are always on their smartphone.

As a Christmas present, there is a growing number of markets and apps that accept bitcoin and litecoin. SpendBitcoins and UseLiteCoin are incomplete lists of places where the digital currency is accepted. You will mostly find tech related goods and services.

Right now the risk of holding bitcoin as a currency is about the same as holding currency from Cuba or Zimbabwe based on the market cap of $11,023,236,650. As you can see in the above charts, that market cap is rising fast. As of writing this article, one bitcoin is $840 and a litecoin is $30.50. This is definitely something to look into for yourself.

If you hate politics, this latest speech by President Obama isn't going to help the situation. Due to the problems with the ObamaCare disaster, he has unilaterally decided that you can keep your insurance plan until the 2014 election. It is a brazen political move that shows a complete lack of compassion.

"Already, people who have plans that predate the affordable
care act can keep those plan if they haven’t changed. That was already in the
law. That is what is called a "Grandfather clause" and it was
included in the law.

Today, we are going to extend that principal both to people whose
plans HAVE changed since the law took effect and to people who bought plans
since the law took effect.

So, State Insurance Commissioners still have the power to
decide what plans can and can’t be sold in their states, but the bottom line is
issuers can extend current plans that would otherwise be cancelled into 2014
and Americans who's plans have been cancelled can choose to re-enroll in the
same 'kind of' plan.

We are also requiring insurers to extend current plans to
inform their customers about two things. One, what protections these renewed
plans don’t include. Number Two, that the marketplace offers new options with
better coverage and tax credits that MIGHT help you bring down the cost."

There is nothing that makes previously cancelled plans available at the previous price. Surprisingly, they did not promise additional subsidies to lower cost of new plans by using the federal treasury as a political weapon. This is president Obama's 20th "administrative" change to the law and it doesn't improve the situation for anyone.

The president added, in response to questions, some very headline grabbing statements.

"I think it is legitimate for them to expect me to have to win back some credibility on this healthcare law in particular and on a whole range of these issues in general. Thats on me. We fumbled the rollout of this healthcare law."

"There is a whole bunch of stuff we did well.." (he then listed several items that were implemented by private insurance companies)

"We are also discovering that insurance is complicated to buy."

"Another mistake we made was underestimating the difficulties of people purchasing insurance online and shopping for a lot of options, with a lot of cost and benefits and plans. Uhh, and somehow expecting that would be very smooth and then they've also got to try to apply for tax credits on the website."

"Part of what we are realizing is that there is a certain portion of people who are going to need more help and more hand holding in the application process. "

The grandfather clause we put in place is almost like we said to folks you have to buy a new car, even if you can't afford it right now.

What we did was we chose a path that was the least disruptive to try to FINALLY make sure that health care is treated like it is in every other advanced country. [They lied to force us into socialized medicine.]

This is what happens when one party rams complex laws upon the American people without reading the law. Doo Doo Economics and our allies at the San Diego Local Order of Bloggers have warned everyone about ObamaCare for years. These warnings were met with venom and hate by progressive. They threw human feces at my home. Now, that the shutdown and the tea party have been proven correct, Americans are met with a brazen political move designed to influence elections instead of doing what is best for America.

With all this failure and breakage of the health insurance system due to ObamaCare, the president now promises that we won't get "dragged back into a broken system." The federal government is breaking our legs and giving us crutches then expecting us to be thankful.

ObamaCare needs to be repealed. The law isn't a trainwreck, it is a jumbo jet crashing into a skyscraper.
The progressive-socialist vision is of a health care system without "greedy" insurance companies. The president on many occasions called ObamaCare a "transitional step" toward government run "single payer" health care. So, why did insurance companies support a law designed to destroy their industry?

They were promised an unaccountable system ripe for massive fraud.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office estimates that $1 out of every $7 spent on Medicare is fraud.

GAO has designated Medicare and Medicaid as high-risk programs, in part due to their susceptibility to improper payments—estimated to be about $65 billion in fiscal year 2011

ObamaCare was sold to insurance companies as a medicare-like direct payment system. A system where the IRS determines an individual's tax credit at the end of the year...after ObamaCare subsidies have been directly payed to insurance companies. If an individual claims too large of a subsidy, the IRS goes after the individual, not the insurance company, to recoup the money.

Let's walk through this. (As we do, imagine President Obama explaining this to insurance executives with a deceptive "come on guys, this is free money" tone.)

John Insurance Consumer signs up for ObamaCare Silver Plan with ACME Insurance Company. John is not eligible for Medicare, but will get $1000 per month in tax credits through ObamaCare for a plan that costs $1400 per month. ACME Insurance Company bills John $400 per month and Uncle Sam is directly billed $1000 per month.

ACME Insurance Company is directly billing ObamaCare $1000 per month for John. If the IRS determines at the end of the year that John is only eligible for $750 per month in subsidies, they go after JOHN not ACME for the difference. If John is an illegal immigrant, he is exempt from ObamaCare fines.

Notice, if you will, no one in the media is explaining who pays the $1400 per month premium. A $1400 per month premium is a massive out-of-pocket bill. This is where, remember this term, ADVANCEABLE TAX CREDITS come in.

Per Kaiser Family Foundation:

How will premium subsidies be provided?

Premium tax credits would be refundable and advanceable. A refundable tax credit is one that is available to a person even if he or she has no tax liability. An advanceable tax credit allows a person to receive assistance at the time that they purchase insurance rather than paying their premium out of pocket and waiting to be reimbursed when filing their annual income tax return

The advanceable tax credits are determined by a series of income percentages. It is impossible to know precisely an individual's income at the beginning of the year or when they sign up for ObamaCare. So, insurance companies must ESTIMATE the amount of subsidy they receive directly from ObamaCare.

Do we need to say more?

No, but to spell it out. Medicare is exposed to massive fraud because its direct payments compensate billed claims. The claims are paid up front and are seldom held accountable. ObamaCare eliminates the fraudulent claims by making them estimates. They are estimates of advanceable premiums. The insurance company being paid the advanceable premium is not liable for bad estimates, individuals are held accountable by the IRS. This incentivizes individuals to report less income and rely more upon government subsidies AND it promises an unaccountable, uncapped fire hydrant of government payments to ACME insurance.

ObamaCare, aka the PPACA, expands medicaid/medicare fraud from over billing by individuals and doctors to over billing by insurance companies. ObamaCare redefines "Insurance Fraud."

How big is the ObamaCare insurance fraud market as promised to insurance industry? Per Kaiser Family Foundation:

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates the direct cost of premium and cost-sharing subsidies to be $350 billion from 2010 to 2019, and $8 billion in indirect costs. The cost of the subsidies is a function of the number of people that are eligible for subsidies, and how generous the subsidies are.

Consider this...An undocumented or even fictitious health consumer named Jose has never filed a tax return. ACME insurance signs him up with a massive advanceable tax credit...

In the best case, ACME insurance is vilified in an "Insurance Fraud" Sting. The more likely outcome is that the fraud would succeed. Jose would be exempt from fines and the tax payer would pay. The corrupt system would continue until it becomes politically expedient to demonize insurance in favor of Single Payer.

This deception strategy was used in the Fast & Furious scandal. The U.S. Department of Justice & ATF sold machine guns, sniper rifles, grenades and other small arms to Mexican drug gangs. The ensuing crisis was intended to push gun control legislation by blaming "gun proliferation" on American gun owners. The ability to blame opponents for progressive policies was also used during the shutdown to blame Republicans for President Obama's shutdown of the government by refusing to delay the ObamaCare mandate.

The Obama Administration Also Committed Fraud in the Inducement Against Insurance Companies

Insurance companies were swindled along with the American public. The administration appealed to their greed through fraud. President Obama lied about Americans keeping their health insurance under ObamaCare. This lie is causing the loss of tens of millions of insurance customers according to estimates based on the (Un)Affordable Care Act, page 34,552.

Per a deleted and then revised NBC news expose on ObamaCare (pdf of original story): Obama admin. knew millions could not keep their health insurance

That means the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them.

...

George Schwab, 62, of North Carolina, said he was "perfectly happy" with his plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield, which also insured his wife for a $228 monthly premium. But this past September, he was surprised to receive a letter saying his policy was no longer available. The "comparable" plan the insurance company offered him carried a $1,208 monthly premium and a $5,500 deductible.
And the best option he’s found on the exchange so far offered a 415 percent jump in premium, to $948 a month.

"The deductible is less," he said, "But the plan doesn't meet my needs. Its unaffordable."
"I'm sitting here looking at this, thinking we ought to just pay the fine and just get insurance when we're sick," Schwab added. "Everybody's worried about whether the website works or not, but that's fixable. That's just the tip of the iceberg. This stuff isn't fixable."

This suggests why healthcare.gov does not work. It is intended to be a scapegoat when dealing with insurance companies. When insurance executives question why customers are not materializing as promised, the administration points to the Youtube video...oops... the website.

So what does this all mean?

Between 15 and 93 million Americans will suffer the loss of health coverage. That doesn't matter to the progressive movement because the ideological ends justify the means. Individuals do not matter in ObamaCare because it is not a health care plan. It is an empty promise designed to fail and swindle us into government controlled "single payer" or "universal medicaid" health care.

ObamaCare is NOT a train wreck. It is a jumbo jet crashing into a skyscraper.

Sarah is a young, hard working, single Chaldean woman. During the last week she worked three double overtime shifts. This young Catholic woman lives at home with her family and her mother works for the school district. Sarah doesn't take handouts and she never received "free lunches" at school. She is very proud of her family's hard earned success and that of other members of the Chaldean community. She says comments from disgraced El Cajon Mayor, Mark Lewis, make him sound like "a hater."

"Hater" is a synonym for jealous and resentful, in case you aren't familiar with the term.

Chaldeans are Catholics from the Middle East, most are from Iraq. Of the 50,000 Chaldeans in San Diego County, between 10,000 and 12,000 live in El Cajon. They have lived in close-knit communities since Islam arose from the Saudi Arabian peninsula and conquered most of the Middle East. If not for their community focus and hard work, they would have been swept away by the forces of Islam long ago.

Many Americans are not familiar with the struggles of Christians in the Middle East or the differences in cultures from that area of the world. Christians are under attack today in Egypt, Syria and Iraq. Mark Lewis' recent statements seem born from this fundamental misunderstanding. Arun Gupta of Progressive.org reported in the article Little Baghdad, California

Mark Lewis is mayor of El Cajon. Now sixty-four, he’s been in office since 1998 and grew up here. If he is any indication, cultural misunderstandings are abundant. He says single women have complained to him about not being served in Chaldean-owned establishments, and he’s warned them they must serve women. He says, “In our society the female is the same as the male. They haven’t got that through their heads yet.”

Lewis says some Chaldean schoolchildren who receive free lunches are “being picked up by Mercedes Benzes.” He adds: “First time, they come over here, it doesn’t take them too long to learn where all the freebies are at.” This, he says, causes “a lot of resentment in regard to veterans,” who ask, “Why can’t [the federal government] support veterans like they support minorities coming over here?” Lewis says this is creating “white flight.”

Sarah is critical of Lewis' statements, "How does he know which kids are dropped off in Mercedes and which are getting free lunches? I never had a free lunch because my parents worked hard. Chaldeans live in different (financial) circumstances. Some have nice cars and some might be driving old Mercedes that they bought for $8000."
Karen Pearlman of the UT San Diego reported on the Mayor's resignation:

“I was simply expressing my opinion that I believe that the limited social services made available to our residents in El Cajon should go to those most in need of them, including those within the Chaldean community.”

In a statement released to U-T San Diego on Thursday night, Lewis said his decision to resign is primarily due to health reasons, including what he described as a minor stroke in 2010, cancer and a dislocated shoulder.

“Unfortunately, at times, this has caused me some difficulties in clearly communicating my thoughts, including during the recent interviews that have caused understandable concern within our community and for which I have already apologized,” Lewis’ statement said.

Sarah is concerned that widespread abuse of social services is being unfairly blamed on the small Chaldean community. Some of the community is comprised of penniless refugees who have just arrived. The refugees were professionals who could afford to flee. Doctors and engineers who need recertified to work in the U.S. and who need assistance and understanding. Other Chaldeans have been working in San Diego for decades. Sarah's family fled Iraq when Saddam Hussein came to power in 1979. She was born in La Mesa, California over a decade later.

Her family has owned several businesses in San Diego County and they never turn down patronage from "single women." Apparently, Mark Lewis' "single women" comment confused Christian Chaldeans with fundamentalist Islam due to his stroke.

ObamaCare fines Americans who do not sign up on a website that does not work. This is the definition of unfair. The President will be forced to delay the ObamaCare mandate EXACTLY as the Republicans had asked for and President Obama denied in order to shutdown the government.

Before President Obama is forced to delay the individual mandate and admit the Tea Party was right, he will claim that the technical "glitches" can be fixed. Expect a "best and brightest techies will fix it" statement. Massive additional tax monies will be wasted on the effort. Unfortunately for the President, failing, poorly envisioned, multi-million dollar centralized systems aren't "fixed" by more or better programmers. They die and are redesigned.

Massive customer service centered technology innovations are the realm of the free market, not big government. Like education, no amount of money or big government will make the system work reasonably. But again, ObamaCare was never designed to work, it was designed to kill private insurance companies in order to force "single-payer" socialized medicine on Americans.

So the President and the Senate shutdown the government for nothing. They screamed and cried that it was Bush's fault or the "tea party's" fault to conceal the truth, but truth is hard to kill. In the end, ObamaCare must be delayed. If it is not, it will drive millions of Americans into the arms of its tea party.

...Or maybe the failed "ACME Healthcare" website is intended to take the blame for the system. Maybe this is all part of the "Single Payer" plan to provide a scapegoat for the administration when dealing with angry insurance companies. Blame "the website", the latest in a long line of "blame Bush" tactics.

We understand your frustration at the repeated lies from the administration and their allies, both in the media and the Republican establishment. However, your concerns are unfounded. President Obama and the progressives may have won the battle, but they just lost the war.

In effect Obama invaded Moscow. (Thanks to J.H. for this analogy)

Britannica.com:

In June 1812 Napoleon’s army entered Russia, and the Russians fell back before him. Under pressure of public opinion, Alexander on August 9 appointed (Mikhail Illarionovich Golenishchev-Kutuzov) Kutuzov commander in chief of all the Russian forces and, on the following day, made him a prince. Napoleon sought a general engagement, but Kutuzov’s strategy was to wear down the French by incessant minor engagements while retreating and preserving his army.

Mikhail Illarionovich Golenishchev-Kutuzov was brave, he had proven himself in battle, strongly believed in the Russian Orthodox Church, and he looked out for the troops’ well-being. The nobles and clergy also regarded Kutuzov highly. He had studied the American revolution, particularly how a people could lose every major battle and win the war.

Kutuzov fought and lost a major battle at Borodino on September 7 which resulted in Napoleon taking Moscow. Napoleon accomplished his goal. In that day, taking the capital of a nation typically ended the war. Do you see where this is going?

Don't we hear "Obama won the election" by the frantic leftists? Isn't the victimized president whining that everyone else is mean because he doesn't get what he wants? Napoleon thought he would win once he invaded Moscow and President Obama thinks he has won by implementing ObamaCare. In both cases, reality didn't match the plan.

Napoleon scorched the earth during his march through Russia just as President Obama has used corruption, cheating and lies to pave his way to victory. Both of these arrogant strategies lack an exit strategy. Neither Napoleon nor Obama believed they would need an exit strategy. They expect opponents to surrender and allow them to revel in victory.

Napoleon realized that he had NOT won peace and began his retreat in October, during the Russian winter. He faced constant battles as he tried to retreat to safety. His grand army was decimated just as the progressive movement is about to be decimated. ObamaCare and the debt are playing the roll of the Russian winter and the tea party is the swelling opposing army.

We need only do two things to decimate the entire evil progressive movement.

Block the Amnesty bill which they hope will distract us from the failure of ObamaCare and provide more voters who don't have skin in the game. Remember illegal aliens are exempted from ObamaCare penalties.

Continue to fight at every turn, in every way imaginable to expose the heartless, cruel reality ObamaCare and growing debt.

As Americans are impacted by the ObamaCare disaster they will be looking for help from those who oppose it. They will consider who told the truth about ObamaCare as they see the unnecessary suffering it is causing. Obama and the Democrats lied to America. The longer and stronger we stand against ObamaCare, the more credibility and support we gain.

The progressive position is the opposite. The president has already forced one downgrade of America's Standard and Poor's credit rating on August 5th, 2011. The markets fell 634 points in a couple days. Standard and Poor's warned that raising the debt limit with no intention of paying it down was unacceptable.

The House of Representatives is fighting against unconditional debt limit raises and the massive new ObamaCare entitlement. Republicans have the support of the financial markets and the public-at-large supports the defunding of the Unaffordable Care Act entitlement. The stock market goes up as the tea party rebels against the massive government spending. The stock market should rise today (10/16/2013) if the debt limit is NOT raised.

President Obama and other progressives are standing defiantly in the path of a buffalo stampede unable to see the consequences of their stubbornness. They expect their "perception is reality" spin in the media to save them. They expect to step aside as the stampeding heard runs off a media cliff.

Unfortunately for them, REALITY EXISTS.

Obama and Reid are responsible for the shutdown and the public is learning more about it every day. The false blaming of Congress only works in a short news cycle. No spin or twitter campaign will turn this disaster to their advantage. Pointing fingers and lying isn't a winning strategy here. President Obama is likely prepared to sacrifice himself to save ObamaCare, but his sacrifice would be for nothing. Big government is failing again.

Progressive Democrats rely upon their top-down planning to provide solutions from the Ivory Tower. The ObamaCare plan is to usher in a crisis to be solved by government run single payer health care. The "progressives" are prepared for ObamaCare to fail. They created the law to take out insurance companies and drive government dependence. They didn't consider the bravery and honesty of patriotic americans fighting to save our fellow citizens from this arrogant scheme.

The President and his party should back down from a fight they can't win. They won't, so be prepared for more global-warming-style armageddon wolf cries. The media will also cry that the "tea party" can't win. They are wrong, at this point the tea party can't lose.

The President cannot get his demands through the House of Representatives. Establishment Republicans will take ownership of ObamaCare and the debt if they tread on the tea party. This is a perfect situation for Republicans to stand firm on behalf of all Americans.

Victory favors the bold. So boldly stand your ground and repeat..Don't Tread on Me!
Ironically, the White House has unleashed their "essential" government twitter workers to start a #EndThisNow hashtag. The leftist doomsday rhetoric is on full display along side President Obama's "essential" propaganda department logo.
The House of Representatives must remember why they were elected. Rein in the spending, stop the debt and America will support you. It does take courage to stand up to the media and low information voters. So, show the world why this land is called the home of the brave.

To show our support we have created a logo graphic to demand the White House to compromise and accept one of the 14 deals already offered by the House of Representatives.
Lets not go into President Obama ordering government workers to cause as much pain as possible on the American people, his "I will NOT negotiate" tantrums, or withholding death benefits from the families of fallen military members. Lets take a moment and acknowledge that the truth is winning on ObamaCare and Obama the man.
After years of exposing the current administration's cold, callous and vindictive tendencies, the American people are finally benefiting from our hard work. They can take a honest look at the actions of our Kommander in Chief. This wouldn't be possible in the propaganda driven media environment without brave Americans who stand up for the truth.

This is my "Thank You." A video which has nothing to do with politics, but exemplifies the moment Reality meets ObamaCare.
