The SLOBs Want YOU!
San Diego has an active tea party movement. We are part of a group called The San Diego Local Order of Bloggers, the SLOBs, and this is a way we are making a difference.

The city, state and country seem at odds with individual liberties, but as they say "all politics is local" and we are the grassroots defenders of civil rights. We are individuals who have studied the problems of humanity and concluded that the "common good" is a facade espoused by those who lust for power to miseducated followers. We know that the highest moral good is individual freedom.

There are many national organizations that claim the mantle of defenders of freedom and wave the smaller government banner, but they do not seem to be producing results. My personal belief is that these organizations were founded nobly, but often run astray due to a lack of accountability to supporters.

For example, Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner has assisted in alienating the entire Ron Paul movement which may have cost the Presidency. He is also failing to effectively deal with President Obama on the fiscal cliff or national debt. The debt issue is coincidentally of paramount importance to the various freedom movements, including the Ron Paul movement. Nevertheless, John Boehner was just confirmed as the Republican Speaker of the House.

The national tea party organizations are similarly stuck in a bad position. By collecting local monies through donation drives they hope to purchase influence on the national scene. However, draining local resources hurts the growth of the movement. It exposes the movement to high level corruption instead of utilizing the low level competition of ideas representative of the ethics and ideals of the movement.

How many people are selling tea party t-shirts or becoming tea party organizers at the moment? Not enough. There is not enough money at the local level to organize. It is either taken by a political party or a national tea party organization.  The power hungry leftists infiltrate rich charitable organizations, use public financing (i.e. ACORN and Planned Parenthood) and legally enforce union dues to pay for organizing locally.

The Republican Party and national tea party organizations seem to be blaming each other for failures at the moment. This is a dangerous cycle that the media and other collectivists push in order to divide the supporters of individual civil rights. The left is masterful at dividing people into groups in order to subjugate them.

Further, the large freedom promoting organizations are vilified by a mostly hostile media and used to limit the number of sources of our message. Notice that the NRA is currently the spokesman for the entire second amendment. Demonize the NRA and the arguments they make are demonized as well.

There is a marketing theory stating "people believe what they are told from three sources." Reliance upon one messaging source doesn't sell. A hundred spokesmen for liberty is more effective than a sole expert voice.

This is where individuals matter more than a political party or a national organization. You can have an impact beginning with the people around you by applying your unique abilities free of organizational hindrance. Conservatives are "go-getters" and individualists who are uniquely capable of innovation and perseverance. is our innovation in the battle for liberty. It is our social networking machine and an example of what can be accomplished by a few people and determination. On this blog, a post describes "How to Promote Freedom on" It is a menu option at the top of The SLOBs website titled "How To Use." However, we want to explain, what the SLOBs website is.

Our website is technically a blog aggregator with search engine optimization and social networking automation. Each time a blogger adds a new article, the article pops up on the website, Facebook, Twitter and in our Android App. Because the article is automatically available in several places on the internet , the article gains better position in search engines.

The website is intuitive and promotes our fellow bloggers work. It keeps us reading and commenting on each other's work to promote the collaboration of ideas. The collaboration is not managed which maximized innovation by allowing us to pursue stories and ideas. Many great ideas are built on the shoulders of other great ideas. In a battle of ideas, this is a tremendous advantage.  Because the fact that our bloggers hold diverse perspectives, the SLOBs is a rich collaborating team.

Users find and share our articles on any social networking site from one central location at Ironically, the one social networking site that does not interact directly with our site is, but they are working on it. Each time a user shares an article, it helps everyone gain possible readers and improves the search engine ranking of the post.

We are integrated with a Facebook, and my personal Twitter account automatically tweets every article based upon blog "labels". At the bottom of the website is a "wire network" feed based on the top story from the bloggers at the moment. The wire network adds a hard news element.

The website automatically updates about every four hours, but can be manually updated via a blue refresh button. The site also integrates with an android app that has a few extra features like search and storage of stories. A Windows 8 App is in the works.

The features of the website are cool, but the power is found in expanding the reach of freedom fighters. The bloggers do not see the app statistics, but since Sept 2011 the android app has added 115,658 reads. The biggest uncommon usage of the our RSS feed is on, a social networking aggregator.

What You Can Do

Personally, I am a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer and a Silver Microsoft Partner for Small Business. This project required determination on my part, but it is successful because of the participation of the bloggers and organizers involved.  Success required the larger effort of a small group of motivated individuals.

This solution can be customized to other freedom minded groups with some aesthetic changes by contacted me. The real question is what your skills, talents and effort can produce. Only you can answer that...

Tea Party, Swing Voter Blogging Audience

As a reminder for my fellow tea party bloggers, here is a run down of our audence. Linda Killian is on a book tour for "The Swing Vote." In the book, she identifies four types of independent voters or swing voters. These are actually tea party voters.

We write to make a difference, so knowing our audience is critical.
  1. Suburban Moms and Dads: the largest group, diverse, economically conservative, socially moderate
  2. NPR Republicans: old, raise most of the money, socially conservative, economically moderate. Rockefeller Republicans who are now more independent.
  3. Facebook Generation: young, economically conservative, socially classically liberal/libertarian, easy to sway but hard to turn out
  4. America First Democrats (aka Reagan Democrats): male, working class, midwestern, traditional values, religious, socially conservative, NRA members.
The Atlantic has a long piece on this subject, but this paragraph summarizes the power of the tea party/swing voter:
The Republican victories in the 2010 midterm election were also decided by these voters. Independents supported Democrats by 18 points in 2006. But driven by their concern about the nation's economy and strong opposition to Democratic spending and health-care initiatives, they supported Republican congressional candidates in 2010 by the overwhelming margin of 56 to 38 percent, a 36-point swing from 2006.
Linda Killian is not tea party friendly or takes that tact to ensure media coverage. Move past the code language and consider that three of these four groups are the tea party.  The other group, Rockefeller/NPR Republicans, are accessible via social issues but will be targeted to divide and conquer Obama's opponents. The actual point of the book is "how to beat the tea party."  The intent is to separate the money from the movement which is pointed out by the quote:
Money is the driving force in the American political system... It's not just the mother's milk of politics -- it's the cottage cheese and yogurt too.

Why to Support Citizen Journalists

Rights and liberties in America are found in the 5th Amendment and the Bill of Rights. Individual rights limit the powers of government. Key to this limitation of government power has been the protective power of the press. This power of the press has become increasingly compromised over the last several years.

Consequently, the lack of protection against expansive and corrupt government power can be seen in the unquestioned actions of Barack Obama. Numerous lies are now commonly unchallenged in the traditional media. Many of us on the side of freedom have concluded that the old media is now an agent working against the rights and liberties of We The People. However, we must acknowledge that this old media empire is crumbling and cornered. Starved of financial resources, the old school newspapers and television stations are at risk. Once fully staffed journalistic endeavors are now skeletons who cannot carry out their traditional duties. Their compliance may simply be due to desperation.

Lets take the most optimistic view of traditional media and the issue of Barack Obama comparing himself to Abraham Lincoln. The LA Times and CNN could not resist this half-baked exercise in journalism:

There are, in fact, some parallels. Both had distant fathers and were raised in families of few means. Both had curiosity, devouring studies. Both became lawyers and settled in Illinois. Both got their start in Illinois state politics, served only a short time in Congress and upset political giants in their long-shot bids for the presidency. Lincoln narrowly bested William H. Seward and Obama, well, remember Hillary Rodham Clinton? Funny thing is, both Seward and Clinton were U.S. senators from New York.
Of course for many, the singular comparison is that both Lincoln and Obama are marvelous orators, given to soaring rhetoric that can lift a nation at a time of war and economic hardship.
So CNN might be forgiven for morphing their faces

The tragedy of this comparison is that it gives Obama tacit approval to ignore the U.S. Constitution, as they ignorantly attribute Lincoln's suspension of Habeas Corpus due to an "emergency." President Lincoln may roll over in his grave at comparisons between these two problems. Lincoln was self educated but brilliant enough to study the situations he faced by the illumination of the U.S. Constitution. Even President Lincoln's suspension of Habeas Corpus was not a political move to promote an agenda, it was a reaction within constitutional limits to preserve The Republic after 11 states had succeeded and Maryland was in question.
Constitution Article 1 Section 9 Clause 2: The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.
A financial collapse would not have ended the Union. The lack of ObamaCare or Global Warming regulations would not threaten the Union. To be frank, these political agenda provoke rebellion. There are no clauses in The Constitution enumerating power to provide health insurance or support the elitist belief in climate religion. The left is devoted to creating a dependency class for political purposes. The Constitution is devoted to individual rights and liberties and swings toward dictatorial powers only when The Republic is endangered.

President Lincoln faithfully executed his office and would never have misused the argument of departmental constitutional interpretation to stop enforcement of The Defense of Marriage Act. President Lincoln would not remove the blindfold to race at the Department of Justice. President Lincoln would not have obstructed justice in the investigation into Solyndra by Congressional Energy and Commerce Committee. President Lincoln would not have run guns to the southern states to push a political agenda. Yet, the traditional media does not bring these issues to the forefront of national debate. Instead, these threats to all of our rights and liberties are overshadowed by hyped accusations against Herman Cain.

It is up to citizen journalists to pursue truth now. So please forgive the blogging world as it learns to shoulder the burdens once carried by large corporate institutions. Please forgive our zealousness in promoting our efforts, but unless we learn to overcome the financial obstacles, truth will go from being covered up to never being uncovered. Without truth, corruption and evil dominate.

Why We Blog

Has anyone else noticed that lefty bloggers get paid through Soros or google or some university while conservative bloggers tend to be unpaid and independent? We tend to have a few bloggers with book deals and a ton of self-motivated, after-hours, professional-something-else voices. Yet, we do not revolt or feel exploited because we are doing good for society by attempting to expose truth.

It is the difference between trying to be on the side of truth and believing truth is on your side.

Left Coast Rebel is back and talking about the self destructing #OWS movement, which motivated me to thank everyone involved with the online Tea Party blogging movement.

Thank you for exposing the truth with your hard work.
Thank you to those who share that work with others.
Thank you to our families who understand us.
Thank you to our readers.

We commit our lives, fortunes and honor in order to keep those we love safe, secure and happy.
