Michele Bachmann Kicking Butt!

Today's Glenn Beck Radio program included Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Michele Bachmann. During Bachmann's visit she referred to Newt Gingrich as a "frugal socialist."  Her comment referenced the Speaker's Medicare prescription drug program example of coverage lacking kidney medications being more cost effective than covered kidney dialysis treatments.

“Well, my response is it doesn’t help to have a frugal socialist. That’s really what we’re talking about is managing socialism and trying to be a frugal socialist. Because you’re looking at proposals and programs that are in effect redistribution of wealth and socialism based. And are we going to have real change in the country or are we going to have frugal socialists,” as transcribed by GlennBeck.com (full video link).

"Frugal Socialist" is a sound bite that will stick in the annals of the tea party.

I recall when House Speaker Gingrich was fighting the Clinton idiocy.  He earned my respect for helping get America off the socialist track in the 1990s.  In my opinion, Newt is a modern day Winston Churchill. Remembering that Churchill was a great British Chancellor with many flaws. The fact that Americans are turning to a politician in the image of an Englishman instead of an American is somewhat damning.

It is refreshing to see Rep. Bachmann and others approach the primary more seriously. Western civilization hangs in the balance. This is no time for timid leaders who stand for nothing and will fall for anything.
